ORDER CHICKENS

August 14, 2008

This is not weekly CSA news, but a special post devoted to chickens. The next time you can pick up a chicken at the farm is between five and seven pm. on August 25, monday. The cost is five dollars per pound and the chickens average five pounds each. We raise them in pens that move each day to fresh pasture, grass and bugs. We feed them only organic grains. On harvest day, we do all of our own slaughter and dressing of the birds. Your bird comes whole, and clean and cool, in a plastic bag. We put our own in the freezer in two bags and they keep just fine. You can get your livers and gizzards separately if you wish. Feet are also available. We realize that not everyone wants these tidbits, so ask us on the day if you do and we\'ll give you some.

Call the farm to place your orders and let us know if you want more next year as well so we can plan how many to grow. This is the last time for this year.
