Well, a lot has happened since St. Patrick\'s Day, friends. Some of our chickens and ducks have arrived and gotten off to a great start. We have built a small temporary fence inside of site two. If you drive past on Littlerock Rd., you may have noticed that. The fence encloses our most precious carrot and lettuce beds, so that the deer can\'t get in to eat them. We are eagerly awaiting delivery of our truckload of mega fence supplies from the WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife. Rounds one and two of lettuce, carrots, beets, broccoli, and spinach have all been planted. Our friends have come back to work with us, and we love that. So far, Jose, Elena, Zachary, and Adam have joined us, and soon, Schuyler and Yair will be here, too. Colin is still spending a lot of time on the tractors and we are scheming ways to share that sort of thing with the others. It\'s a little bit fun to ride around on a tractor if it\'s not what you normally do all day. What we normally do all day is put plants in the ground, hoe back the weeds and go get some other plants up out of the ground and take them to market.

We made it to all four days of Olympia Farmers Market this past weekend, and I am some kind of dork for not posting a news item about that ahead of time. I could have alerted all of you to the availability of fresh arugula, bok choy, and salad greens! Every year we start off small with just a few bunches of radishes and greens at the farmers market. We have to wait until the end of May or the beginning of June to start the CSA program deliveries to ensure a steady supply of the right amount of the right variety to make it great. We enjoy returning to the market after winter and saying hello to all our old friends and making new friends. We also enjoy talking about CSA and signing up new and returning members. It\'s not too late to sign up now, nor will it ever be. We will always find a way to make another share, even prorating late members. That said, the sooner you sign up, the better! Early sign up guarantees you your first choice of day and time for pick up location, and early deposits and payments help us pay for supplies and labor at a time of year when our produce selection is limited. So send in your registration and tell all your friends to sign up, too!
