When is the CSA going to start?

May 27, 2009

I\'ve been putting off posting the news until I knew the answer and could tell everyone. We still don\'t know. Every day we watch the spinach and lettuce and radishes and cilantro and wonder when they are going to be big enough. While we wait for them to grow, we plant peppers, tomatoes, basil, cucumbers, and eggplants. While we wait for them to grow, we weed everything, and then when we finish weeding everything, the weeds grew back and we weed it all again. We\'ve put in one sweet row of flowers at field two so that when you drive or bike past you can enjoy them when they bloom.

The Tumwater Farmers Market opened today, and we were there offering bok choy, arugula, and salad greens. Also we brought some tomato and onion starts to sell. The Tumwater market is a great little mid week mid day variety show. It\'s open every Wednesday from 11-2, and it is one of our CSA pick up location choices. Even if you don\'t pick up a CSA share, we\'d love it if you came to visit us at the Tumwater market. The market is located on the corner of Capital Blvd. and Israel Rd. with parking available just beyond it, take the next right after Israel to park and then walk in from the back. Besides Kirsop Farm, you will find nice folks selling flowers, meat, goat cheese, coffee, baked goods, lunch treats and more!

Any minute now, the crops will reveal their secrets to me and i will know when the CSA will begin. As soon as that happens, I will run inside to the computer and post the date for you. After that I will send e mail or snail mail notifications to those of you who are signed up for shares. And then we\'ll be off and running for another great season of bounty.
