Subscribe. Participate. Eat amazing food.
A CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) share is a farm subscription service that helps farms like ours gather a community of people like you who share the harvest and support the farm.
It’s a win-win! We get financial support to carry us through the season. You get the best organic produce every single week of the harvest by paying up front for fresh vegetables that are grown with love and skill on preserved farmland in the Independence Valley.
You can’t eat better, or more consciously, than that.
Every week of the harvest, you receive a box of harvest-ready produce, like tender arugula in the spring, summer tomatoes, and (the best) carrots. You end the season with autumn keepers, such as potatoes, onions, and squash.
We love the relationships we build with our members through this program, but we also believe it serves a larger purpose: This kind of cooperation is essential so we can all create a sustainable Thurston County.
Community-Supported Agriculture is a relationship.
The is give-and-take CSA model–produce for cash–is based on mutual respect between the customers and the farmers.
The CSA model gives us financial stability so we can continue growing beautiful, healthy food right here. And it gives you a direct connection to your source of food.
You pay in advance for the food you’ll receive, receiving lovely vegetables but also taking risks along with us that go with the work of planting, tending, and harvesting food. When you sign on, you’re a full partner.
And it’s part of the bigger picture, too. The money each of us spends on food is our vote for the kind of world we want to live in.
When anyone purchases food grown in our own community, they receive great food and they participate in changing our local landscape. Spending at local organic farms helps them to continue operating.
At Kirsop Farm in particular, buying the food we produce means you’re supporting preserved farmland in our community.
That’s because we made the big move to invest in the farmland preservation project at Scatter Creek Farm & Conservancy. When you buy our food, it helps us maintain our commitment to grow for the community, for the long haul.
We want to be a significant part of the way you feed yourself and your loved ones We’d love to be your farm.
How does it work?
The vegetables change from week to week.
Being a farm subscriber is different from shopping in the produce department of your local grocery store.
Because we grow in dynamic conditions, our vegetables change each week. We can’t be 100% sure what will be ready to harvest and what will need a little more time in the ground. (That’s part of the fun!) Because of this, we can’t guarantee specific crops at specific times in specific quantities.
Our subscribers say their weekly boxes have helped them eat in concert with the harvest and develop a new rhythm for their weekly shopping and meal planning. We hope it’s the same for you! We absolutely love having such an important role in the lives of our members.
We drop, you pick up.
As a Kirsop Farm subscriber, you pick up your share of the weekly harvest in a location that’s most convenient for you, on the same day each week. When you pick up your box every week, you’re participating, and we appreciate it!
Here’s the nitty-gritty, to help you decide whether a CSA subscription is right for you:
